Sigele Winbush
Media Relations
Connector, strategist, problem solver – Sigele Winbush has been transforming and protecting brands for almost two decades. Bridging different sectors to solve common communications challenges is her formula for success and has earned her the trust of countless organizations and their business leaders. Her expertise lies in media relations, strategic communications, civic engagement, public involvement and special event coordination.
Sigele’s journey as a communicator started with a passion for storytelling and an interest in building relationships to introduce new ideas for complex issues.
She began as a communications specialist for boutique public affairs agency, Ahmann, Inc., where she worked on a series of high-profile, public policy projects, including key initiatives under former mayor Shirley Franklin and her Atlanta Committee for Progress.
She would eventually become the founding communications director for a transformative public-private partnership initiative, Westside Future Fund. Created by former Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed and Home Depot co-founder Arthur Blank, Westside Future Fund aimed to preserve and revitalize five historic, intown Atlanta neighborhoods. Sigele led communications that brought prominent leaders and community members together – from heads of corporations to teachers and residents – to share perspectives on ways to redevelop these neighborhoods to improve quality of life while also maintaining their history and culture.
Drawing from two of her first career roles launching the Georgia International Convention Center and the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, she played a game-changing role as the public relations director for Atlanta Ballet, the oldest ballet company in the country. As a team of one, Sigele independently orchestrated a full-spectrum public relations program for the company and its Centre for Dance Education. She navigated the company through a critical transition period as it prepared for its 80th anniversary—launching a capital campaign to fund a move to a new building, hiring new leadership, reshaping and expanding its selection of artists, debuting a global tour, and building unique cross-sector partnerships.
Sigele’s broad range of experience prepared her to fulfill a lifelong dream in 2016 when she launched her own public relations consultancy, Sigele Winbush Consulting (SWC). As CEO, she continues to hone in on bringing diverse players to the table to help shape narratives for clients across sectors.
Sigele is a graduate of Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications.
